May and June were big months for KAWS [captured above with Johnny "Cupcakes" Earl at the BAPE LA grand opening party] and July is certainly the month where he is reaping the benefits. We got our first look at the July issue of i-D Magazine Kaws was asked to collaborate on a couple of weeks ago; He not only designed multiple pages but also got to play interviewer with the founder of the street wear empire, A Bathing Ape, Nigo. Kaws also managed to pull some celebrity strings and got the likes of Pharrell and NERD, Yeezy, and Weezy to have full features in the zine. On his blog, KAWS wrote:
"This was one of the largest magazine projects I have worked on to date. It was a lot of work but I would gladly do it over again (and again, and again.) The support I received from friends who took time out of their busy schedules to contribute was awesome, so thank you"
In addition to the spread, i-D magazine also just put up this short film directed Jake & Kate Sumner:
And if that wasn’t enough for you, pictures of the KAWS x Nike AF1 just surfaced from the 1 World Project and they are actually making me reconsider my embargo with Nike on all forces:
