"while not quite ready to fully integrate graffiti into the Wiimote, Nintendo's platform has inspired students and designers to explore the possibilities. WiiSpray is a prototype from Martin Lihs, who prepared it as part of his final at Bauhaus University. Hopefully it will come to fruition, as the idea is fun and rather sound."
A couple months back I wrote about the Radiohead 'Nude' remix contest and shared my then favorite remix entered: Holy Fuck's take at the instant classic. Well a video recently surfaced of Radiohead's "Nude," recreated with some obsolete computer gear and it is by far the most brilliant entry I have heard thus far. The video's creator James Houston puts it best: "It doesn't sound great, as it's not supposed to,"
Sinclair ZX Spectrum - Guitars (rhythm & lead) Epson LX-81 Dot Matrix Printer - Drums HP Scanjet 3c - Bass Guitar Hard Drive array - Act as a collection of speakers - Vocals & FX
In the video description, Houston had this to say: "Radiohead held an online contest to remix "Nude" from their album - "In Rainbows" This was quite a difficult task for all the electronic musicians that entered, as Nude is in 6/8 timing, and 63bpm. Most music that's played in clubs is around 120bpm and usually 4/4 timing. It's near impossible to mix a waltz beat into a DJ set. I grouped together a collection of old redundant hardware, and placed them in a situation where they're trying their best to do something that they're not exactly designed to do, and not quite getting there."
So, I'll admit it, I was wrong. Holy Fuck's version of "Nude" was not the best entry in the contest...but it certainly was the most feasible for daily play; atleast give me that.
