Boogie!

Boogie, a personal favorite photo-journalist of mine, has allowed his work to take him from Serbia, to Cuba and throughout South America. In his new book, Sao Paulo, he gives us a peek into his skewed perspective of one of Brazil's poorest and most troubled cities. In commemoration of the book, Boogie has also produced a skate deck bearing the same image as the cover. The deck is available at the upperplaygound online store.

"Born in Belgrade Serbia, street photographer Boogie possesses a rare talent for documenting the human condition. His black and white photographs capture the character and the inhabitants of some of the most tumultuous cities in the world. Many of his images are at once deeply poignant, and totally unsettling."

Not sure if you are familiar with Weegee, but he is one of my favorite photographers of all time. It seems apparent in Boogie's style that he has been somewhat of an influence, whether recognized or not...they share similarities. An interesting and rebel artist/photographer of his time.
