Merry Christmas from TOMS.

A few days ago I got an unexpected package in the mail from TOMS shoes. For those of you that don't know, TOMS shoes is a company with a simple philosophy: for every pair sold, TOMS gives a pair to a child in need. Over 100,000 children have received a pair of shoes that would have otherwise gone shoe-less had it not been for TOMS and the effort of their supporters; sometimes it's easy to forget, with a closet full of Nikes and Vans, that shoes aren't a luxury item, they are a necessity and for millions of people the opportunity to have just one pair is unheard of. Earlier this year Blake Mycoskie, the man behind TOMS shoes, went to Ethiopia and throughout his visit, Blake saw the same dedication he applies to his shoes being applied to scarves by the locals and was inspired by the people who hand made the scarves to support themselves and their families; Blake bought as many as he could find and has given them to all of his staff as a reminder of the change they are making in the World. This is why I was so taken aback when I opened my package and saw that I had received one of these hand made Ethiopian scarves. TOMS is currently preparing for their Holiday Project which is to drop 30,000 pairs of shoes in and around the villages these scarves were made.I know you were behind this Caitlin! Thanks so much, you made my holiday!
